Raw format Sony and Fuji - Histograms

Forums:

Dear All

For astrophotography I recently did some cooling tests with my Sony Nex-3N and my Fuji X-A1 (30s exposure, closed camera, ISO1600). From Rawdigger histograms, the Fuji seems clearly superior concerning noise behavior, however, the Sony histograms have only each 2nd/4th bin filled at identical RD settings. I attach the two histograms for comparison, does anybody have an idea what difference in raw format might lead to this effect?

Best regards

Thomas

ACR after Baseline Exposure fix is not looking same as inside RawDigger

Forums:

Hello, i have followed the article "Deriving Hidden Baseline Exposure Compensation Applied by a Raw Converter" closely and my baseline exposure is 0.35 on all ISO levels (found using DNG method).

I have applied settings in ACR and its same as in article
Exposure = -1.35
Contrast = -33
Black = +25
Custom Curve

I tried both profiles Camera Standard and Adobe Default, still not looking same.

viewing non linear DNG from Sony ARW - what I am doing wrong ?

Forums:

Hi All

This raw file = https://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/sony-a7r-ii/A7R2hSLI000100NR0.ARW...

Converting to a NON linear DNG using Adobe DNG converter (v15.1.0.1329 - pretty recent one)

Opening this DNG in RawDigger (v1.4.6.761 PE on Win10x64)

And then it looks like a linear DNG though (but it is not !) - I am certainly missing something obvious in RD settings :- ( !!!

See the first animated GIF

Please advise, thank you

Histogram with no binning for non zero buckets

Forums:

I tried to make histograms from the RAWs of a Fuji T4, a white picture, all pixels overexposed, and a black picture with lens cap.

I would like to have the bucket size to be one for all non zero values. Is there a way to do this?

I tried linear x axix and non-linear x axis. With linear x axis and non auto the minimum bucket size is always reset to 32. Auto also does not always give buckets size one for non zero buckets. With the black picture it did but only about 2 million pixels were counted (sum of R, G,and B channels.)

Is there any setting I have missed so far?

R G B saturate at different rates on CCD sensor

Forums:

Hi, I wonder if anybody has encountered this in a camera sensor...I have a rather obscure cinema camera that uses a Kodak Interline CCD sensor.
I believe the sensor is this one: KAI-02150

The camera outputs 12-bit uncompressed DNGs.

I have done some testing with RawDigger on the native DNG files that camera renders. It seems that it does something unusual when it saturates.

As you can see on the below histogram, on a white patch that is overexposed, the sensor R and B channels saturate at 4005.
The G and G2 channels saturate at 4015.
